The Confidence Heist

Who stole your self-belief? And how do you steal it back?

Confidence can sometimes feel like something other people naturally have and we somehow missed out on. But, confidence isn’t a fixed personality trait. It can be shaped by our experiences, beliefs, thought patterns, and the way we respond to ourselves.

The Confidence Heist is an interactive, psychologically informed workshop that invites participants to investigate what might be getting in the way of their confidence and self-belief.

Throughout the workshop, we meet some of the usual “suspects” - including comparison, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, mind reading, the inner critic and avoidance - and explore how these patterns can influence the way we see ourselves and what we feel able to do.

Participants are encouraged to become detectives of their own thinking: questioning old beliefs, examining the evidence behind self-doubt, recognising evidence they may be overlooking, and experimenting with small actions that can help build greater self-trust.

Rather than aiming to become fearless or eliminate self-doubt altogether, the workshop explores a different area of confidence: “I can doubt myself and still back myself”.

During the workshop, participants will explore:

  • What confidence is, and how it differs from self-esteem

  • How experiences can shape beliefs about ourselves

  • Comparison and the effect it can have on self-belief

  • Perfectionism and imposter syndrome

  • Common thinking patterns, including mind reading and negative predictions

  • The inner critic and what may be driving it

  • How avoidance can unintentionally maintain self-doubt

  • How to question beliefs and look at the evidence more fairly

  • Self-compassion and developing a more helpful internal voice

  • How small, manageable actions can build confidence and self-trust

Who is the workshop for?

The Confidence Heist is suitable for workplaces, organisations, community groups and individuals who are looking for an engaging and accessible workshop focused on confidence, self-belief and personal development.

Workshop Format

The workshop combines psychological ideas with relatable examples, reflection exercises, group discussion and practical activities that participants can take away and apply to their own lives.

The content and length can also be adapted according to the needs of your organisation or group.
